Engine Start

BEFORE ENGINE START
1.  Preflight Inspection - COMPLETE
2.  Passenger Briefing - COMPLETE
3.  Seat Belts - ADJUST and SECURE
4.  Canopy - Close
5.  Brakes - TEST and SET
6.  Circuit Breakers - CHECK IN
7.  Electrical Equipment - OFF
8.  PROP Control Mode (if installed) - CONSTANT SPEED (up)
9.  FUEL SHUTOFF Valve - ON

CAUTION:

The avionics master switch must be off during engine start to prevent possible

damage to avionics.

STARTING ENGINE
1.  AVN MASTER Switch - CHECK (verify OFF)
2.  MASTER Switch - ON
3.  Engine Monitoring System - CHECK PARAMETERS (verify no faults)
4.  STROBE Light Switch - ON
5.  CHOKE Control - PULL (if engine cold)
6.  THROTTLE Control – IDLE
7.  Fuel Pumps 1+2 – BOTH ON
8.  Propeller Area - CLEAR (verify that all people and equipment are at a safe distance from the

propeller)

9. IGNITION Switch - START (max. 10 seconds, release when engine starts, after each start

attempt 2-minute starter cool-down is necessary)

NOTE

: If the engine is flooded, push Choke control to full in position, open the throttle control

about 10%, and engage the starter motor (START). When the engine starts, promptly retard
the throttle control.

10. THROTTLE Control - about 2500 RPM
11. Oil Pressure - CHECK (verify that oil pressure registers within 10 seconds, any higher RPM

permitted only when oil pressure is stable above 2 bar)

12.  CHOKE Control - PUSH IN (if used)
13.  THROTTLE Control - REDUCE TO IDLE
14.  AMPS - CHECK (verify charge shown (positive))
15.  NAV Light Switch - ON (as required)
16.  AVN MASTER Switch - ON

WARM-UP

1.  Initial - approx. 2 minutes at 2000 RPM
2.  Normal - at 2500 RPM until oil temperature reaches 50°C
3.  Temperatures and pressures - CHECK continuously

4.6

Taxi Check

1. Brakes - CHECK (verify proper operation)
2. Flight Instruments - CHECK (verify proper indication while taxing)
