PROBLEMS, CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS
Defect
Cause
Solution
Voltage generated oscillates
without load.
Dynamic mismatch.
Set
potentiometer
Stb
counterclockwise.
Generator excitation voltage
too low.
Place a resistor in parallel with
the
field,
perform
the
necessary
power
and
resistance calculations to size
the resistor.
Voltage
generated
decreases when load is
applied and does not return.
Decrease in engine speed
causing U / F protection
activation.
Make adjustments to the Motor
speed Regulator.
Actuating
current
limiter,
current limiting on.
The generator is requesting a
higher excitation current than
the regulator supports.
Generator does not prime
Very low residual voltage.
With the regulator on, use
external battery (12Vdc) to
force excitation (*).
Terminals F + and F- inverted. Invert F + and F-.
Set reference voltage too low.
Set the voltage reference to
the
nominal
generator
specification.
Sensing voltage not reaching
to the regulator. (RGB led
alarm in phase-out mode).
Measure if the voltage is
reaching the terminal E1 or E2.
Overcurrent
protection
or
actuated
excitation
overcurrent, RGB alarm LED
will act as actuated protection.
Check and correct the cause of
the protections and perform
the
"RESET"
of
the
protections.
Generator Over-excite
Very low sensing voltage,
measurement between E1 or
E2 e E
3/4
.
Check if there is a short in the
generator phases.
Reference above the nominal
of the generator.
Correct
voltage
reference
setting.
(*) For generator set battery where generator neutral is grounded, independent battery must always
be used.
