ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS  

The various system components must be positioned so as to reduce the length of connections to the minimum. For the electrical 
connections between the photovoltaic panels, the control panel and the electric pump use cables with a 4 mm

2

 section with an 

overall length up to a maximum of 40 m, or 6 mm2 section cables with a length up to 80 m, or 10 mm2 section cables with a 
length up to 180 m.
The connection cables going from the panels to the control panel must be prepared with the special insulated and watertight 
connectors supplied (

Fig. 6

), or with other connectors compatible with those on the photovoltaic panels used.

The cables employed connect the various system components and must be resistant to UV rays. Otherwise a specific protection 
must be fitted.
The panels can deliver a voltage up to 100 V

, before carrying out any operation on the plant, cover the panel surface with a cloth  

to protect the panel surface from direct sunlight, then disconnect the panels from the rest of the plant.
Pay maximum attention when making the connections linking the panels and the electric pump to the control panel: a connec-
tion that does not respect the c/- polarity can damage the control panel or the electric pump.
Joint the pump cable with the connection cable to the control panel using the resin joint.
While carrying out the junction conform to the instructions included in the resin joint.
The maximum no-load voltage delivered by the strings of the photovoltaic modules (<120 V

DC

) allows the system to be classified 

as a low-voltage safety plant (SELV type).
Connect the pump protection conductor and the ground conductor coming from the ground plate to the control panel terminal 
(

). Where there is no ground plate, make it by planting a galvanized steel stake in the ground (

INSTALLING AND USING THE CONTROL PANEL  

Install the control panel so that it is not directly exposed to the elements (rain or direct sunlight). If it is installed in a closed area 
this must be suitably ventilated and with an ambient temperature ranging b40 °C and -5 °C (

).

The control panel is arranged to receive the power supply from 2 strings of panels, that are connected in parallel inside the control 
panel, powering 1 electric pump. It is fitted with a programmable NO or NC input for controlling the electric pump by means of a 
free contact (for instance a float) (

).

To start the pump select by means of buttons   and   “

START

” and press  , confirm by selecting “

YES”

 with   and press  . 

After 10 seconds the pump starts.
To switch off the pump select by means of buttons   and   “

STOP

” and press  , confirm by selecting “

YES

” with   and press  .

To visualise the voltage trend in time select by means of buttons   and   “

WIEW

” and press  . By pressing   again you 

visualise the absorbed current and power.  Use buttons   and   to modify the visualised time interval and buttons   and   to 
modify the visualised scale dimension.
To set up the protections and other panel operating options select by means of buttons   and   “

MENÙ

”  and press  .

Setting up the maximum current and the minimum and maximum voltage protections: by means of the buttons   and    and 
select “

GENERAL SETUP”

 and press  .

If PANASONIC mod VBHN240SJ25 photovoltaic modules are employed carrying out settings is not required as the correct values 
have been pre-set in the factory. Otherwise the following settings must be made:

1) MIN VOLTAGE OFF

: this is the minimum no-load voltage delivered by the modules, below which the control panel does not 

power the pump (we advise a value equivalent to 90% of the no-load voltage powering the control panel).

2) MIN VOLTAGE ON

: this is the minimum voltage delivered by the modules with the pump running, below which the control 

panel cuts off power to the pump (we advise a value equivalent to 75% of the no-load voltage powering the control panel).

3) MAX VOLTAGE

: this is the maximum voltage delivered by the modules above which the control panel cuts off power to the 

pump (we advise to set a value equivalent to 105% of the no-load voltage powering the control panel).

4) MAX CURRENT

: this is the maximum value of the current absorbed by the pump (we advise to set the value indicated by the 

pump rating plate).

5) MAX CURRENT TIME

: this is the maximum time a current above the MAX CURRENT value is tolerated; when this time is up the 

control panel shuts down the pump.
