Pax Duct fan 100, 125 and 160 are intended for transport of air in air treatment systems, group B (acc. to Swedish
standard ELSÄK-FS 1999:5 830.1, 830.3). High pressure capacity and high performance make the fans especially suitable
for demanding ventilation conditions. The fans have backward flailed blades and maintenance-free outer rotor motor.
The casing is made of galvanized steel sheet metal. Pax Duct fans are designed for installation in ducts with an inside
diameter of:
– Ø100 mm for Duct fan 100
– Ø125 mm for Duct fan 125
– Ø160 mm for Duct fan 160
The fans are designed for use after the duct connection is made on both suction and outlet side, in way that no water can
reach the fan motor. (The fans are not designed for industrial use.)
Placement of the fan
The fans are equipped with ball bearings, enabling installation in any position, however make sure that the connection box
for electrical installation does not end up under the motor’s centre line (see figure A).
Fan installation
The fan must be installed in a firm and stable manner so that the service and maintenance can be performed simply and
safely. After installation/duct connection, it shall not be possible to touch moving parts.
– When mounting the fans onto the walls or ceilings it is recommended to use the included fitting bracket (B).
– When installing the ducts please observe the air flow direction indicated on the housing of the device.
– Do not connect duct bends near the fan. Minimum straight after the fan must be 1xD on the suction side and
3xD on the exhaust air side, where D is the diameter of the air duct.
– For installation in unheated room, e.g. cold attic, the fan shall be insulated to avoid condensation. If there is a possibility
for condensate or water to access the unit, external protective measures shall be fitted.
– When connecting the fans into the duct system it is recommended to use the included duct clamps, see figure C.
This will help to reduce the vibration of the device transmitted into the duct system and the environment.
– Check that there are no foreign object in the fan and that no noise is heard at start.
Connection (electrical installation)
Electric installation shall be performed by a qualified electrician, and according to regulations that governs the installation.
The fan should be connected in accordance with the power connection scheme included in this document (see figure D)
and indicated under the cover of the power connection box.
The installation must be protectively earthed. In case of permanent installation, a double-step switch with minimum 3 mm
gap shall be installed. The current rating may not exceed that indicated on the label by more than 5%.
Installation
Maintenance
Before service, maintenance or repair is started:
– the fan must be disconnected from the mains supply (double-step switch disconnection).
– the fan blades must have stopped completely.
– the governing safety regulations must be followed.
The fan shall be cleaned as needed, at least once a year to avoid imbalance, which leads to unnecessary bearing damage.
The fan’s bearings are maintenance-free and shall only be replaced as needed.
High-pressure washer may not be used for cleaning of the fan.
Clean carefully so that the fan blade’s balancer weights are not moved or the fan blade is deformed.
Carefully read these instructions before use.
Check that all components are included in the packaging:
1 pc Duct fan, 1 pc Fitting bracket and 2 pcs Duct clamp.
The fan is designed for fixed installation 230V AC 50Hz and should be installed by a qualified
electrician. Class I, must be protectively earthed. Technical data: See type plate.
– Always isolate the product from the electric power supply before starting any installation work.
– The fan may have sharp edges and corners, which may cause cuts.
– The fan may not be used in explosive environment, or connected to chimney flue, or used as a kitchen fan.
– The device may be operated only in the conditions listed in these instructions.
– If the provided information is unclear or any doubts regarding the installation and operation safety arise,
please contact the manufacturer or its authorized representative.
– In case of malfunction it should be reported to the manufacturer or its authorized representative describing the
fault and submitting the data indicated on the label of the product. Opening, repair or modification of the device
may be performed only after receiving the written permission of the manufacturer or its authorized representative.

Warning!
Transport
and storage
– All devices are packed in the factory in order to satisfy ordinary transportation conditions.
– After unpacking the device should be checked for damage. It is forbidden to install damaged devices!
– Upon unloading and warehousing the devices use the appropriate hoisting equipment in order to avoid damage
and injuries. Do not lift the devices holding them by the power cords, connection boxes, air intake/exhaust flanges.
Try to avoid smashing and crashing.
– Store the devices in a dry place, and ensure that the relative humidity is not higher than 70% (at +20°C), and
the average ambient temperature is from +5°C to +30°C.
– During storage and transportation the devices should be placed vertically, ensuring that the connection flanges are
vertically directed.
– The recommended warehousing period should not be longer than one year. If stored for a period that is longer than
one year, before installation it should be checked if the bearings rotate easily (turning the impeller by hand).
