Planning the installation
Before you start the actual installation, we strongly recommend that you gather all the information you will
need to install and setup the device. See
for an example of what pre-installment checks you might need
to carry out. Completing the pre-installation checks enables you to install and set up your VoIP IAD within an
existing network infrastructure with confidence.
Note
When setting up your VoIP IAD you must consider cable-length
limitations, and potential electromagnetic interference (EMI) as
defined by the applicable local and international regulations.
Ensure that your site is properly prepared before beginning instal-
lation.
Before installing the VoIP IAD device, the following tasks should be completed:

Create a network diagram

Install the hardware and software needed to configure the SmartNode

Verify power source reliability

When you finish preparing for your VoIP IAD installation, go to section
to install the device.
Mains Voltage: Do not open the case when the power cord is con-
nected. For systems without a power switch, line voltages are
present within the power supply when the power cord is con-
nected. The mains outlet that is utilized to power the SmartNode
router shall be within 10 feet (3 meters) of the device, shall be eas-
ily accessible, and protected by a circuit breaker.
