LAN Cable Considerations
EverServ POS terminals typically communicate with the other registers in the store and to the outside
world over a local area network (LAN). This is accomplished by connecting a four-pair CAT5e cable
from the POS terminal’s LAN port in the cable well to the K4300-03 Netgear router and the stores
DSL/Router. The typical TACO DEL MAR LAN configuration is shown below.

Please remember the general rules listed below for LAN cable installation:
LAN Cables must be placed inside conduits whenever possible. Some conduit
may be shared by other store cabling but not AC power. Do not run the LAN
cable in the same conduit as AC power.
Never run LAN cables on the floor. Use a cable chase to protect the cables.
LAN Cable should not be routed near power sources or over light fixtures.
If tie-wraps are used to bundle LAN cables, the tie-wraps should be tightened
to the point of just snug. Do not over tighten the tie-wrap.
Excess cable must be tie-wrapped so that it never lies on the floor.
