Troubleshooting
This chapter provides several basic trouble shooting steps.
M3873-61V Printer Troubleshooting Steps
1.
Verify the printer is connected, the printer power switch is turned on and the printer green
power LED is on. The printer receives power and print data directly from the register, so the
printer must be connected to the register and the register must be powered on and operational.
Reference Page 10 and 11 for the M3873-61V Printer Installation instructions to make sure the
printer is connected properly.

Verify the printer paper is installed correctly and the Paper-Out LED is off. If not, replace paper,
cycle power, and test for correct printout.

Verify the printer Error LED is off. If not, check for a paper jam and clear it, if present. If the
Error LED cannot be cleared, cycle power and test again. If the error does not clear, the printer
may be bad.
4.
Verify the printer is printing data and the paper isn’t blank. Make sure the correct thermal paper
is installed.

Run a self test on the printer by turning off the printer, pressing and holding the FEED
button while turning on the printer.
