XT PowerStation 

– Restoring the Secure Digital 

Card (SD) 

The XT PowerStation comes with an internal 2GB Secure Digital (SD) Card installed. The SD card comes 
from the factory loaded with the Operating System and the necessary files to boot and run the Xpress 
runtime software. Customer specific projects can be copied or downloaded to this card. The SD card is 
used as a fixed drive and provides non-volatile memory storage for the system. Although this card is 
removable, it must be installed in the XT PowerStation before power up and cannot be removed while the 
unit is powered on. 

If you are having difficulties powering up the XT PowerStation or experiencing functional or performance 
issues, it could be due to problems associated with the SD card or the installed image. If the SD card is 
suspected to be defective, a replacement card may be purchased (See 

How to Obtain Technical Assistance 

from Parker Hannifin

 ) however, it is first recommended that you try to recover the original factory 

software image onto the SD Card using the Parker Flashback utility to see if the problems are resolved 
before returning the unit for repair. The following procedure will guide you through the restoration 
procedure. 

Parker Flashback Utility 

The Flashback Utility is a tool for restoring or upgrading the 

 firmware and operating 

system onto an SD card. The Flashback utility can be found on-line via the XT product page:  

http://www.parker.com/emn/XT

.  Before you run the utility, you need a computer that has a native or 

external SD card reader/writer.  You can use the flashback utility when:

A new version of the XT PowerStation firmware is available. 

◼

 

The user wishes to create a backup copy of the SD image. 

◼

 

The factory supplied SD cards becomes corrupt or unusable. 

 

 

CAUTION:  Be careful when using Flashback to restore the SD card as all 

information on the card will be formatted and overwritten. 

 

Complete the following steps to restore your SD card with the Flashback Utility: 

1.

 

Save the Flashback_XT.exe executable on your computer from www.parker.com/XT. 

2.

 

Insert the SD card into a SD card reader/writer. 

3.

 

Run the Flashback_XT.exe program.
