High Density Back-to-Back Installations
For high-density applications, the chassis can be mounted back-to-back. This
type of mounting configuration requires another set of vertical rails positioned at
least 24 inches to the rear when mounting the chassis in the back of the rack.
Also keep in mind that you must:
Reposition the top cover air flow vents for each chassis before installing the
chassis into the rack. To do this, disassemble and reverse the rear baffle
plate on the top and reposition it with the air vents facing upward.

Air Flow Vents
Leave at least 1.75 inches between a chassis and the one above it (3.5
inches preferred).
Follow the procedure for either mounting a chassis into a rack with threaded
screw holes or without threaded screw holes.
