Introduction
This chapter provides the scope, overview (application and block diagrams), and kit com-
ponents content for installing and configuring Gateways in data centers.
Scope
This document provides guidelines and instructions for installing and configuring the
Gateway.
NOTE
: Installation of software (such as Web Console™ and MapSense™) occurs prior
to hardware installation. This installation order prevents redundancy of hardware veri-
fication activities (for example, sensor-to-software communication validation). See
Document References section for document list.
This document applies only to the installation and configuration of Gateway devices.
Overview
The Gateway is a wireless-to-Ethernet transceiver that collects data from any of the Syn-
apSense wireless sensor or meter hardware deployed throughout the data center (for
example, SynapSense ThermaNode environmental sensors and P3 SmartPlug™ Con-
troller). The device is powered by an external power adapter. Each Gateway has an
internal battery backup, which maintains the SynapSense Wireless Sensor Network
(WSN) in the event the external power adapter is unplugged or loses power.
shows an example of wireless data transmission from different nodes to the
Gateway(s), and then data transmittal from the Gateway(s) to the server via Ethernet.
