8. How to check the abnormalities of the CD-R/RW
mechanism unit and repair them.
In this model, the entire CD-R/RW mechanism unit must be replaced.
When the source of the problem appears to be in the CD-R/RW mechanism unit, check it using
the following procedure and replace it.
1. Check the operation of the CD-R/RW mechanism unit by following
the “12.2. Running Operation” in this service manual.
2. If abnormalities are confirmed, replace the defective CD-R/RW
mechanism unit.
3. Confirm the normal operation of the newly installed CD-R/RW by
following the procedure of the checking operation 1.
4. If the model does not operate properly even after the CD-R/RW
mechanism unit has been replaced, the cause of the malfunction
may reside in other parts.
