Using the timers/Auto-off function
Using the timers/Auto-off function
You can set the timer to come on at a certain time to wake you
up (play timer) or to record a radio station or from the external
source (record timer). The play and record timers cannot be
used together.
Turn the unit on and set the clock.
For the play timer
, prepare the desired music source;
cassette, CD, radio, external or USB, and set the volume.
For the record timer
, check the cassette’s erasure
prevention tabs (
Erasure prevention, page 26) and
insert the tape in the deck (

Recording, page 25). Tune to the radio station (

Every time you press the button:

When the unit is off

If you use the unit after the timers are set
After using, check that the correct tape or disc is loaded before
turning the unit off.
To cancel the timer
Press [

The play timer will start at the preset time with volume
increasing gradually to preset level.
The record timer will start 30 seconds before the set time with
the volume muted.
The timer comes on at the set time every day if the timer is
on.
The unit must be in the standby mode for the timer to
function.
If you turn the unit off and on again while a timer is
functioning, the finish time setting will not be activated.
If MUSIC PORT or AUX is selected as the source when the
timer comes on, the system turns on and engages MUSIC
PORT or AUX as the source. If you wish to playback or
record from the portable audio equipment, just activate the
equipment’s play mode and increase the volume. (See the
portable audio equipment’s instruction manual.)

Note
Sleep timer:
This timer turns the unit off after a set time.
Auto-off function:
Only when disc, USB or tape is selected as
the source. To save power, the unit turns off if it is left unused
for 10 minutes.
While enjoying the desired source:
Press [SLEEP/A.OFF] to select a setting (minutes).
Every time you press the button:
The “SLP” or “A.OFF” indicator lights.
To confirm the remaining time
Press [SLEEP/A.OFF] once. The remaining time is shown for
about 5 seconds.
To cancel the sleep timer
Press [SLEEP/A.OFF] to select “SLEEPOFF”.
To change the setting
Press [SLEEP/A.OFF] to select the new setting.
To cancel the Auto-off function
Press [SLEEP/A.OFF] to select “A.OFF” again.
The sleep timer will be turned off when you start recording.
The sleep timer always has priority. Be sure not to overlap
timer settings.
You can use the sleep timer in combination with the play/
record timer. Make sure the unit is off before the play/record
timer’s start time.
The Auto-off function is maintained even if the unit is turned
off.
