Recording modes and approximate recording
times
Depending on the content being recorded, the recording times may
become shorter than indicated.

When “Recording time in EP mode” (p. 68) is set to “EP (6 Hour)” in the
SETUP menu. The sound quality is better when using “EP (6 Hour)” than
when using “EP (8 Hour)”.
Note:
• When recording to DVD-RAM using “EP (8 Hour)” mode, play may not be
possible on DVD players that are compatible with DVD-RAM. In this case
use “EP (6 Hour)” mode.
FR (Flexible Recording Mode) (See right.)
The unit automatically selects a recording rate between XP and
EP (8 Hour) that will enable the recordings to fit in the available
recording time on the disc with the best possible recording quality.
• You can set when programming timer recordings.
• All the recording modes from XP to EP appear in the display.

• If the broadcast is “Mono + SAP” audio will be
monaural even if you select Stereo mode.
Secondary audio program (SAP)
• If recorded in SAP mode, main audio is also recorded.

broadcast.

Rec Time of double-sided disc is sum total of both sides of disc.
• When appears on the screen while a button is being pressed, it means that the corresponding operation is prohibited by
the unit or the disc.
