Defrosting
1. Automatic defrosting
During automatic defrosting, beeps will
sound to remind you to stir or turn the food.
1-Small pieces
(120 to 1550g): small
pieces of meat, pieces
of poultry, escalopes,
sausages, rib steaks,
steaks, fillets or
cutlets weighing
between 100g and
400g. It is better to
spread them out in a single layer. Do not forget
to separate the pieces and turn them when the
beeps sound. A standing time of 2 to 15 mins
will be necessary after defrosting, to even out
the temperature.
2-Big pieces
(400 to 2500g): large pieces of
meat or fish, joints for roasting, whole poultry,
from 400g to 2500g.
Remember to turn the
joints and to protect the thin, protruding or fatty
parts when the beeps sound
. A standing time of
40 to 75 mins will be necessary after defrosting,
to even out the temperature.
Container:
having removed the packaging,
place the food in containers which can catch the
liquid released when it defrosts. Do not place
food directly on the glass tray. It is
recommended to place large food items on a
plastic rack or even an upside-down saucer, in
order to prevent the food sitting in its own
juices. It is not necessary to cover the food
during defrosting.
3-Bread
(70 to
500g): defrosting
bread or precooked
frozen pastries,
including croissants,
brioches, pains au
chocolat or pains
aux raisin, as well as
most precooked and frozen bread rolls,
baguettes and round loaves cut into pieces. DO
NOT use this button for sliced bread or pieces
weighing less than 30g each, or for fresh
pastries.
Container:
remove the bread or pastries from
their packaging, place them directly on the
metal shelf at the bottom and remove when the
beep sounds. Allow 2 to 3 minutes standing
time after defrosting. Place large items (round
loaf or large brioche) directly on the
enamel tray
and allow these a standing time of at least
10 min
. Dense bread rolls (wholemeal) also
need a standing time of 10 min.
2. Manual defrosting
Frozen food items which are not suitable for
automatic defrosting can still be defrosted
manually by choosing the MIN power and
entering the defrosting time manually (please
refer to the chart for defrosting times).
The power used is about 270W using a cyclic
defrost. This means that the oven divides the
total defrosting time into 8 sections, alternating
between defrosting and standing time. This
process aims to defrost the middle of the food
item before the outside is cooked.
