5.5 Selecting the way to 
use your fax machine

Depending on your situation, select the way you 
prefer to use your fax machine.

Use as a telephone answering machine 
and/or fax (TAM/FAX mode)

Use only as a fax (FAX ONLY mode)

Use mostly as a telephone (TEL mode)

5.5.1 Use as a telephone

Your situation

You want to answer phone calls using the 
telephone answering machine and receive faxes 
automatically.

Setup

Set the fax machine to TAM/FAX mode (page 50) 
by pressing

How phone calls and faxes are received

If the call is a phone call, the fax machine will 
record the caller’s message automatically.
If a fax calling tone is detected, the fax machine 
will receive the fax automatically.
