Port Configuration (continued)

This table displays the link status for each port on the SW24-GBP and allows the user to configure
the speed settings for each port and enable Flow Control.



Port: Displays the port number.



Link Status: Displays the current status of the port – “Down” if the port is inactive, or
displays the current speed of the port if the port is active.



Mode: This allows the user to manually specify a speed for the port. “Auto Speed” enables
auto-negotiation between the switch and client, while “Disable” causes the port to
become inactive.



Flow Control: Click to enable flow control. Use this setting if there is a possibility that the
sending machine is much faster than the receiving machine. Flow control ensures that a
fast sender will not outrun a slower receiver.



Drop frames: With this feature enabled, the SW24 will drop frames if excessive collisions
happen, rather than storing them and resending them.
