Transcarpal Hand DMC plus 8E44=6 / Transcarpal Hand Digital Twin 8E44=7
7.2 Coding plug removed
(Fig. 9):
Function as described above except that the
DMC plus mode includes a “virtual hand switch”.
After gripping once with maximum force, the signal required to open the hand will be slightly higher.
This improves grip security and facilitates eating, among other activities.
7.3 Adjusting the 13E200=*/13E202=* Electrodes
The best possible function of the DMC plus controll is achieved through optimal adjustment of the
electrodes. This is easy with the MyoBoy 757M11=X-Change.
Procedure:
for detailed information see 647G265 MyoBoy Operating Manual.
In the PAULA software, select the Transcarpal Hand DMC plus. Adjust each electrode so that the
patient can maintain the corresponding muscle signal for approximately two seconds at a point
slightly above the value HIGH. (Fig. 2)
Attention:
Allow the patient to rest during the adjustment of the electrodes to avoid fatigue, and
thus incorrect electrode settings (i.e. excess sensitivity).
The electrodes should be placed on intact skin only and with as much electrode-skin
contact as possible. In the case of strong interferences from electric devices, the posi-
tion of the electrodes should be verified and, if need be, repositioned. If the interference
cannot be eliminated, please contact the Ottobock Myo-Service.
8 Description and function 8E44=7, Digital Twin
Control
The Digital Twin Control includes a Digital and a Double-Channel Control Mode. The chosen
control mode is selected with the 13E185 Coding Plug. The Digital Mode is controlled with two
electrodes and the Double-Channel Mode with only one electrode (13E200=* or 13E202=*).
The Digital Twin circuit is placed in a black housing with white adjustment Controls.
The hand cable of the hand is marked with a white ring.
The Transcarpal Hand Digital Twin is delivered with a Digital Mode Coding Plug installed.
8.1 Control modes: Digital Twin Control
Coding Plug inserted: Digital Mode
(as delivered, Fig.7)
The opening and closing speed of the Transcarpal Hand is constant after a threshold value has
been exceeded by the corresponding electrode signal.
Coding Plug removed: Double-Channel Mode
(Fig. 9)
The hand is opened / closed with only one electrode.
A long, weak muscle signal
Transcarpal Hand closes.
A short, strong muscle signal
Transcarpal Hand opens.
8.2 Adjusting the 13E202=*/13E200=* Electrodes
The best possible function of the Digital Twin Control is achieved through optimal adjustment of
the electrodes. This is easy using the MyoBoy 757M11=X-Change.
Procedure for use with Digital Mode (with Coding Plug)
(Detailed information: see 647G461 instructions for use)
In the PAULA software, select the Transcarpal Hand Digital Twin.
Adjust each electrode so that the patient can maintain the corresponding muscle signal for ap-
proximately two seconds at a point slightly above the value ON. (Fig. 3)
