• For final assembly, now screw the adapter with the external thread (42) completely into the internal thread of
the 3-arm socket adapter.
Attention: when carrying out any later adjustments, do not unscrew the adapter with the external thread (42)
more than one full turn.
• Secure the M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter with Loctite and to a torque of 10 Nm. Use a torque
wrench (5 mm Allen key).
• Slide the washers (39 & 40) onto the 29 mm central screw (37), guide the screw through the central opening in
the head of the joint (33), and tighten the adapter with the external thread (42) to a torque of 35 Nm.
• Secure the central screw (37) with Loctite and use a torque wrench (8 mm Allen key).
Attention:
never mix up the central screws! The pyramid adapter (41) must be screwed tight with the 40 mm long
central screw (38), the loop adapter (44) and the adapter with the external thread (42) must be screwed tight with
the 29 mm long central screw (37), and the IKF-Adapter(45) must be screwed tight with the 27 mm long central
screw (36). Safety requirement!
OPTIMIZING THE PROSTHESIS ALIGNMENT
After loosening the respective central screw, unlimited rotation and A-P/M-L corrections of 5 mm are possible.
In addition, in the case of the KHP3 Knee with loop adapter, alignment corrections in flexion, extension, adduction
and abduction of up to a maximum of 10° are made possible through the use of adjustment discs (43).
Attention:
in order to prevent any unwanted rotation and thus risk to the user, always make sure that the central
screw concerned (36, 37 or 38) is tightened to a torque of 35 Nm at the dynamic fitting session.
ADJUSTMENT
The OHP3/KHP3 Knee joint is supplied by the factory in full working order with the basic settings. Carefully start
testing the function of the joint with the user at the dynamic fitting and check whether this basic setting suits the
needs of your patient. If not, please go through the following steps.
Stance phase stability
Adjustment by shifting the joint
In the basic configuration described here, the axial alignment gives high stance phase stability.
This can be adjusted to the individual needs of the patient by shifting the knee joint in the AP direction.
Shift the joint backwards
▸ safer alignment (fig. 3)
Shift the joint forwards
▸ more dynamic alignment (fig.4)
Adjusting the axle geometry
The axle geometry of the OHP3/KHP3 Knee can be changed using interchangeable wedges. This allows the time of
transition from the stance phase to the swing phase to be adjusted to the user’s desired need for safety.
The axle geometry can be adjusted in three different settings:
Joint without wedge (as supplied)
▸ high safety with A-P shifting
Joint with wedge A
▸ Safety without A-P shifting
Joint with wedge B
▸ highly dynamic
OHP3/KHP3 Knee is supplied without a wedge. Wedge A and wedge B are available as accessories in the Dynamic
Set (Art. No. 1.970.970).
If necessary, the wedges are mounted on the back stub axle (24) with two screws (27).
