Handling tapes
There are two common causes of problems when using tapes:
1. Tapping - leads to uneven playback speed
2. Tape Rewinding - When the tape is wound on moving parts of the mechanism
To reduce the likelihood of these problems occurring, the following precautions should be
followed:
• Check that the loose tape layers are not visible through the center cassette viewer (see Fig. 1).
Before inserting the tape into the device, tighten the loose layers with a pencil or a hex key (see
Fig. 2).
• If you feel that the cassette is heavily rolled over when performing the above (see Fig. 2), the
tape may be bent due to the protruding “ridges” created when the cassette is rewound (visible
through the center visor).
In most cases, this problem can be solved by quickly rewinding the tape from one end to the
other and back.
• Use only quality tapes. Do not use C-120 tapes.
• Do not expose tapes to direct sunlight, dust or grease, and do not touch the tape surface.
