Microphone Recordings
For microphone recordings set the L
↔
MIC selector switch to MIC and then
connect the microphone to the message input jack using an unbalanced
mini-plug (mini-plug dia. 3.5 mm).
Tape Recorder Recordings
For recordings on cassette tape, set the L
↔
MIC selector switch to L. After
sending the message on tape, connect the external output terminal or moni-
tor terminal of the tape recorder to the message input jack of the Voice Unit.
Jack and Plug Mismatches
If your microphone or tape recorder uses a 6.34 mm diameter unbalanced
phone plug or your tape recorder has a balanced stereo output refer to the
diagrams below in order to make the correct conversion to a 3.5 mm diame-
ter plug.

Either an 8
Ω
speaker or amplifier (600
Ω
min.) can be connected to the mes-
sage output jack of the Voice Unit.
If a low message output volume is required connect a speaker directly to the
message output jack and set the Voice Unit front panel line/speaker switch to
the speaker symbol.
To amplify the message output volume or make more than one speaker con-
nection, connect an external amplifier to the message output jack. Both bal-
anced and unbalanced amplifiers can be connected, however a balanced
amplifier is recommended for better sound quality and because the overall
interconnection cable length is longer. Set the line/speaker selector switch to
L when connecting to an amplifier.
