Before filling the scrubber unit, check the expiration date of the soda lime. DO NOT use soda lime which has
expired. Completely replace all the soda lime each time the tanks are filled. Breathing in a closed loop using
expired or exhausted soda lime can be exceedingly dangerous, and may result in serious or even fatal accidents
to the diver.
g) check that the cover O-ring seal is notpinched or damaged; replace if necessary (Fig. 17);
h) after filling the scrubber unit, remove the funnel and plug, then carefully clean the scrubber unit’s mouth to remove any soda lime
granules and/or dust. Replace the cover and manually lock down the cap screw (Fig. 18 );
i) replace the scrubber unit in its compartment and secure it by means of the retaining straps, without thighting them (Fig. 19);
j) reconnect the scrubber unit to the counterlungs by means of the special locking rings on the unions;
k) fully tighten the retaining straps fixing the scrubber unit to the shell (Fig. 20 ).
CHECKING THE OPERATION OF THE CORRUGATED HOSES ANDTHE FOUR-WAY VALVE
To check the operation of the corrugated hoses and the four-way valve, proceed as follows:
a) place the rebreather in the vertical position, resting it on its special standt, then fully open the rear cover (Fig. 21);
b) check that the colored bands on the corrugated hose connectors are correctly matched up with those on the coupling unions of the
outer part of the shell (Fig. 22).
c) place the mouthpiece in your mouth;
d) with the lever in the open position (up) inhale deeply from the mouthpiece (Fig. 23);
e) move the lever to the closed position (down) and exhale through the mouthpiece (Fig. 24);
f) repeat the above procedure several times until the counterlungs have completely collapsed (Fig. 25);
g) move the lever to the open position (up) and exhale to inflate the exhalation counterlung (when wearing the rebreather, this is the
one behind your left shoulder) (Fig. 26);
h) inhale until the exhalation counterlung collapses again, and the inhalation counterlung increases in volume (when wearing the
rebreather, this is the counterlung behind your right shoulder) (Fig. 27).
DANGER
DANGER
Failure of the system to operate as described above indicates an incorrect assembly of the check valves and the
corrugated hoses. This may result in an extreme danger while on the fly.
