FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The Azimuth model is a cyclic semi-closed circuit rebreather in which the breathing mix moves through a one-way loop and is scrubbed
of CO2 that develops during the breating process. Operational simplicity is made possible by total absence of sensors or servo-
mechanisms.
The diver inhales the gas mix contained in the inhalation counterlung through the right-hand corrugated hose, and exhales the
breathing by-products (residual oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide) and water vapor via the mouthpiece and the left-hand corrugated
hose, into the exhalation counterlung. The exceeding pressure is vented by a relief valve connected to the exhalation counterlung. From
the exhalation counterlung the gas is conveyed into the scrubber unit, which has the function of absorbing and chemically fixing the CO2
contained in the exhaled gas. The scrubbed gas then flows back into the inhalation counterlung, where it mixes with a continuous
breathing mix injection from the cylinder. The oxygen supplied by the continous mix flow completely replenishes the oxygen consumed
by the diver's breathing metabolism.
By means of the active flow regulator group, the diver can operate a bypass valve to manually inject the breathing mix from the tank,
and can even add the secon d tank into the breathing loop at any time.
Each of the two tanks has a pressure reducer connected to its own submersible pressure gauge for monitoring tank pressure. There is
an emergency open circuit regulator,too, in the event of failure in the cyclic semi-closed circuit system.
Azimuth rebreather has a Buoyancy Compensator equipped with a mouth and manual inflator unit, and with three different air-release
systems (1-Depressing the mouth inflator button. 2-Pulling on the corrugated tube. 3-Pulling the over-pressure valve ball grip)

The user should be perfectly aware that this equipment can only be used after obtaining the specialist licencen
by attending a training course held by qualified instructors. This manual is not in any way a substitute for the
required training. Use of the Azimuth by non-licenced divers is dangerous and serious and possibly fatal
accidents may occur to the diver and his partners.
The Azimuth BC is not a life vest and is not even designed to hold the unconscious diver’s head out of the
water under all circumstances.
