SOFTWARE INSTALLATION AND USAGE
The disks provided with the printer contain the following:
-
A multilingual monochrome driver for Windows 95.
-
A multilingual monochrome driver for Windows 3.1/3.11 and the printer configuration utility (for customizing
the settings in DOS).
The contents of the disks guarantees compatibility with the specific operating environments and provides
an easy-to-use interface through which the printer can be programmed. The disks include a Readme file
containing updated information on the driver.
4.1 THE WINDOWS ENVIRONMENT
The multilingual monochrome drivers for Windows stored on the disks supplied optimize printer
performance and functionality. First of all, however, the printer driver needs to be installed in your specific
language version and then a check needs to be made to see whether the driver's predefined parameters
provide the type of printout required.
If the driver was installed by means of the Plug and Play feature, the monochrome driver can be configured
by opening the Printer folder, highlighting the printer icon and clicking in Properties.
On the contrary, proceed as follows:
-
Launch Windows.
-
In Program Manager, activate the Main group followed by Control Panel by double clicking on the
relative icons.
-
From the Control Panel, activate the Printers window in the same way.
-
To change the default settings, click on Set; the following parameters will be displayed so that their values
can be changed:
Resolution (dpi): select the graphic density (600, 300,150, 75dpi).
Paper size: A4, Letter, Legal, A5 (default setting: A4 or Letter, depending on the country of destination).
Paper feed: ASF, Manual (semi-automatic).
Orientation: Portrait or Landscape.
-
Clicking on Options... from the Set dialog box displays a second series of parameters:
Paper quality: Normal paper or Film.
Print quality: LQ, Economy, Draft.
Reticulation: defines the color mixtures (defult setting: Thick).
Intensity control: increases/decreases the clearness of grapical images (default setting: Normal).
The Reticulation and Intensity Control parameters are only active when monochrome-generated files
are printed.
