5.1 2 Lateral Paper Guide
This guide is used to mark the position at which
the paper has been inserted so that
subsequent pages can be put in the same
position. Normally, set the guide at the 8-1/2 "
mark (for 8-1 /2 " width paper). This helps ensure
true paper feeding.
5. 1 3 Platen Knob/Variable Line Spacer
A Variable Line Spacer is built into the Platen
Knob It lets you line up current typing with
words on something previously typed or on
preprinted forms. Press the Platen Knob in
while turning it, until the bottom of the typed
line or line on the preprinted form is even with
the horizontal red line in the transparent Card
Holder Release the Variable Line Spacer and

Never use this knob during normal typing, since
corrections on other lines will not be performed
properly. Use only the Index or Reverse Index
Keys
5.1 4 Paper Bail

platen
and
indicates position
(in

pitch) of the
Print Point Indicator.
5. 1 5 Card Holder
The horizontal red line (Line Locator) on the
transparent Card Holder denotes the bottom of
the typed line. The vertical line (Print Point
Indicator) marked above the window aligns
with the center of each character.
Vertical or horizontal lines can be drawn quickly
and easily by inserting a pencil or pen in the
Guide Holes on either side of the Card Holder.

horizontal lines, move the carrier to the right with

remaining in both inches and centimeters.
