Stain the parts (213, 214 & 215) the colour of sapelli wood and then glue them together to make up the
gun carriages. Now cut to size the axles (215) insert them into the wheels (216) and attach them to the carriages, along with the
gun barrels (217).
PHOTO 184:
Now attach the guns and their carriages to the deck, with the aid of eyebolts (B) and the breech ropes (218).
PHOTO 185:
Make up and glue the parts (219 & 220) to the fore forecastle deck bitts.
PHOTO 186:
Paint the cleats (221) a colour that looks like wood and then glue them into place distributed on the forecastle
deck as shown in the photo.
PHOTO 187:
Insert and fix the rings (H) using the eyebolts (B). Glue one of the porthole covers (168) onto the stern bulkhead.
Now glue the cleats (221) into place. Make up and attach the hatch lashing (222).
PHOTO 188:
Glue the cleats (221), distributed as shown in the photo. And tie the lashings (223) off to the eyebolts (B) as
shown.
PHOTOS 189 - 193:
Check the photos before proceeding.
Make up the
chain plates (224) using the pulleys (G & J). Attach the
chain plates to the hull through the channels, using the pins (A). Now paint the chain plates black.
PHOTO 194:
Carry out the same operation for all of the channels on both sides of the hull. Now fix the rings (H) into place,
using the eyebolts (B).
PHOTO 195:
Make up the slings using the thread (C), the blocks (D) and the eyebolts (B). And fix them to the deck in such a
way that you can then fit the helm slings (225).
PHOTOS 196 - 198.
Make up the boat supports using the parts (226, 227 & 228). Stain them the colour of sapelli wood and
glue them into place aligned as shown in the photos. And then glue the parts (229 & 230) into place.
PHOTOS 199 & 200:
Make up the anchor stocks using the parts (230), stained them the colour of walnut wood. Then make the
necessary holes in which to insert the pins (A).
PHOTO 202:
Fit the hoops (231) to the anchor stocks and then glue the anchors (232) into the stocks and insert a ring (233) at
the top of each one. Now make up the hawses (234) and tie them off using the thread (235) as shown in the photo.
PHOTOS 203 & 204:
Now tie the anchors off to the bitts, using the chains (237). Insert the hawses (234) through the hawse
holes, and then run them as far as the windlass. Now make two holes behind the windlass in which to insert the ends of the
hawses (234). Make up the anchor lashing (236).
PHOTO 205:
Make up and attach the lanyards (238) using the eyebolts (B).

Glue two cleats (221) to the stern, as shown. Now make up and fix the sheet bar (239) in place by means of two
holes.
PHOTO 207:
Make up and glue into place the spare top masts (240), tying them down with the lashing (241).
PHOTOS 208 & 209:
Now insert and fix the parts (242 – 253) to make up the skeleton of the boat. When you have done this
glue the skeleton to the base (254).
PHOTOS 210 - 213:
Glue the reinforcements (255) into place and then sand the boat down using a sanding block, in order to
even up the surfaces. First glue the rubbing strake (256) in place and then stain the lining strips (257) the colour of sapelli wood
and attach them below. Finally sand down the surface to leave it smooth and stain it again where necessary.
PHOTOS 214 - 217:
Glue the top rubbing strakes (258) into place, one on each side of the boat, and then remove the base.

PHOTOS 232 & 233:
Make up a part (281) and insert it into an eyebolt (B). This part is then fitted by following the indications
shown in the sails and rigging plans.
MASTS AND SPARS
In order to make up the masts the first step is to cut the rods to size, as indicated in the parts list, or by taking measurements
directly from the plans, which are printed in 1/1 scale.
All of the masts and yards have to have a certain conical shape, which you must give them.
In order to achieve this conical shape for the masts, sand down the rod (using a sander), increasing the amount of sanding
down as you get closer to the end at which you want to decrease the diameter. Turn the rod so that you sand it down evenly on
all sides, until you have achieved the diameter indicated in the plan.
