•
Make sure you don’t drop the push rod in case
it gets dirty or twisted as it is coated with a
special grey grease.
•
At this point, the chain is still in position.
•
Once the bell has been removed, the rest of the
process is similar to that for any bike.
•
You will see the wheel nuts, which you will need
to loosen (14mm or 15mm spanner) but not
unscrew completely.
•
The wheel will then be released from the frame,
but not from the chain.
•
Loosen it by moving the wheel forward, or by
playing with the chain tensioner (depending on
the confi guration).
Reassembly:
Follow the steps in reverse order.
There is nothing particularly diffi
cult here, but you
do need to make sure the bell is fi xed properly in
the stop before immobilising it by tightening it.
2.5.4 Headset
The headset is what holds the fork in the frame.
When it is in the right position, the headset can
turn easily. It must not be loose however.
The headset goes through a lot thanks to impacts
on rough surfaces. It can become loose or get
messed up. Check the position of the headset
regularly (it mustn’t be too tight or too loose). The
headset can break if it is not adjusted properly or is
too tight. This is why it should always be adjusted
by your approved O2Feel reseller.
If the headset is too loose, this can damage the
cups or the fork.
2.5.5 Belt drive
For some of its bikes, O2feel uses the “Gates
carbon drive” belt system. The Carbon Drive belt
is right at the core of the drive. This belt drive
is an eff ective, sturdy alternative to traditional
bike chains. The patented Gates Carbon Drive
technology off ers a longer lasting drive that
requires less maintenance.
What are the benefi ts of the Gates Carbon Drive
belt drive?
•
Cleanliness and minimal maintenance:
No
lubrication is required. You can just wash the
belt drive with water.
•
The belt drive is
really quiet
compared with a
classic chain.
•
The Gates Carbon Drive system
weighs less
than a chain transmission system, and so makes
better performance easier.
The tension of the drive belt needs to be right to
ensure optimum results. Lack of belt tension can
lead to tooth jump or “skipping”, when the teeth of
the belt slide over the teeth of the rear sprocket.
Too much tension can damage the bearings within
the rear hub, can cause the system to drag, and
can increase the wear of your drive system.
Correct alignment of the belt has to be maintained
as you adjust tension.
