3.2 Inspection plan
We recommend the following maintenance plan to make sure that your bike lasts and continues to be a
pleasure to ride:
Every time after
using the bike • spokes,
• wear and concentricity of the rims,
• damage to and the presence of
foreign bodies in the tyres,
• quick releases,
• gears and suspension working
properly,
• brakes and seals on hydraulic
brakes,
• lights and bell.
After the first 200km
then every year • tyres and air chambers.
Check the tightening torques for the:
• handlebars,
• pedals,
• rods,
• saddle,
• seat post and
• screws.
Have the adjustment of the
following components checked:
• headset,
• gears,
• brakes,
• elements of the suspension system
Between 300km
and 500km Check for wear and if necessary
replace:
• chain,
• cassette,
• cogs,
• rim and rim linings.
Clean the chain, cassette and cogs.
Lubricate the chain with an
appropriate lubricant.
Make sure all screws are fastened.
After 1,000km Check the brake hubs and, if necessary, replace the brake pad or lubricate it
with an appropriate lubricant.
After 3,000km For working relating to:
• hubs,
• headset,
• pedals,
• gear cables and brake cables
Use a specialist repair shop to:
• take them apart,
• check them,
• clean them,
• lubricate and, if necessary, replace
them.
After coming into con-
tact with rain / snow /
mud / sand etc. Clean and lubricate:
• gear changing mechanism,
• brakes (apart from the brake surfaces) and chain.
