HOW TO MAKE A FRINGED SCARF
To Make Fringe:
1. Measure and cut 4 pieces of yarn, each six inches (15cm)
long
(See Diagram A).
2. Put them together and fold in half to form a loop at one
end (See Diagram B).
3. Starting at one end of the scarf, pass the loop through a
loose hole in the fabric close to the
corner edge (See Diagram C).
4. Put the loose ends of the fringe though the loop to form a
knot. Pull the ends to secure
tightly (See Diagram D).
5. Repeat this process along the entire edge of the scarf
(See Diagram E).
6. Trim all the ends to even length.
Repeat the above steps at the other end of the scarf.
HOW TO MAKE A FRINGED SHAWL
Practice Before You Start (You will need 3 or 4 skeins of yarn, not included for
this project).
Make Flat Panels:
1. Load the machine as if you were making a flat panel and knit about 100 rows. You can
adjust the length as desired.
2. Finish your panel by using the plastic needle to secure the top end and remove from the
Knitting Machine.
3. Make four long flat panels that are the same
length. You can make them all one color or
different colors.
Sew all four panels together using a piece of yarn
and the plastic needle. Attach the long sides.
To Make Fringe, follow the above instructions at both ends of the shawl.
To Make a tube:
1. Load the machine as if you were making a tube and knit about 100 rows. You can adjust
the length as desired. You can change colors to makes stripes.
2. It is helpful when counting rows to mark your first needle on the machine with a dot
using a permanent marker (not included).
3. Finish your tube using the plastic needle to secure the top end and remove from the
Knitting Machine.
4. Leave both finished ends of the scarf open. This is where you will attach your fringe.
