Appendix A1-1 Command Format
The JE-238 Imager Engine accepts a wide range of configuration commands.
Commands can be sent to the JE-238 whether by scanning a menu bar symbol or via Serial
commands sent from the host machine.
The command format is as follows:
Send Command: #<parameter><space><argument><specifier>
Where:
Parameter: Command
Argument: Value to be set, if applicable
Specifier: Character to designate action to be taken.

All available commands are listed on the following pages as well as a brief description of what
the parameter choices mean. Some commands require further elaboration that can be found in
the relevant sections in the guide.
For example, the command to enable reading of Code 128 barcode symbols id
“128ENAB 1”
The full command to apply this setting to ROM is:
#128ENAB 1.
Throughout this manual, the serial command for each setting is shown directly below the
corresponding barcode menu symbol. Additionally, all commands are shown in table A1-2.
Upon rec
eption of the special command “
#HELP
”, the JE-238 will output all of its commands
serially to the host computer, in the format shown in table A1-1. This is a very helpful way to see
what commands are supported by the firmware version that you are using, and to archive the JE-
238
’s configuration.
