Other Connections
Next, connect the video and data inputs. Be sure to cap unused
connectors during installation.
Use care in routing all video and data cables. The signals on
these cables are relatively high speed, low magnitude signals and
as such, are somewhat vulnerable to interference. Avoid routing
them close to high energy or potentially noisy cables such as
alternator cables, radar cables, transducer cables, etc.
Finally, always leave drip loops on all cables — as you would in
any marine electronics installation.
Connecting the Display to Data Sources
Run the VGA cable from the data source (computer, black
box marine electronics, etc.) to the VGA connector on the
rear panel of the display. Make sure that the connector is
secure and screwed down. Also check that the general guide-
lines outlined on page 23 have been followed.
Connecting the Display to Video Sources
Run the video cable from the source (VCR, DVD, camera,
etc.) to the display. Plug the incoming video signal into the
BNC connector on the rear panel of the display. Be sure to
follow the general guidelines outlined on page 23.
BNC to RCA adaptors may be necessary for connection to
some entertainment devices. However, they are not recom-
mended for use at the display. Don’t use video cables
terminated with RCA connectors at both ends.
If no vBox is to be installed, refer to page 35 to complete the
installation. That section describes how to test that the instal-
lation is functioning normally.
