4. Coating material wraps
back on RA-16 rotary
atomizer cover, shroud,
or both
Spray booth velocity too low Contact plant maintenance to check
booth air flow. Replace booth filters if
necessary.
Conductive build-up Clean RA-16 rotary atomizer with
non-polar solvent.
Change in resistivity of coating
material
Check resistivity of coating material.
Adjust as required.
Electrostatics turned on without
grounded part in front of spray device
Reprogram PLC.
5. Coating material leaks
from paint, solvent, or
dump valves
Ball and seat assembly worn Replace ball and seat assembly.
RA-16 rotary atomizer valve worn Replace leaking RA-16 rotary atomizer
valve.
6. Coating material does not
spray out of RA-16 rotary
atomizer
Air pressure is less than 4 bar
(60 psi)
Increase air pressure. Reset pressure
switch.
Nozzle plugged Clean or replace nozzle.
Main air solenoid failed Replace solenoid.
Individual trigger solenoids failed Replace solenoid.
RA-16 rotary atomizer paint, solvent,
or dump valves malfunction in closed
position
Replace leaking RA-16 rotary atomizer
valve.
7. Coating material leaks
from weep hole in paint,
solvent, or dump valves
Fluid U-cup seals worn Replace fluid U-cup assembly. Refer to
Repairing the Side Valves later in this
manual.
8. Vector air does not adjust
fan pattern
Tubing for vector air is restricted Check flexibility of pneumatic tubing.
No or minimal air out of air regulator
or transducer output
Replace transducer or regulator.
