The following basic safety precautions should always be taken.
1. Before using this product to test your blood glucose, read all instructions thoroughly and practice the test. Do all
quality control checks as directed and consult with a diabetes healthcare professional.
2. Close supervision is necessary when the device is used near children, handicapped persons, invalids or incapable
persons.
3. Use the device only for the intended use described in this manual. Please follow carefully the instructions.
4. To reduce the risk of cross infection wash your hands and the sampling site with warm soapy water before the
sampling. Dry carefully. Do not share the lancets or the lancing device with other people. Use always a new and
sterile lancet, the lancets are strictly for single use. Cover the tip of the lancet using the lancet cap before dispose of
it. After the measurement disinfect the sampling site.
5. Use only test strips and control solutions glucoEASY supplied by the manufacturer. Using other components with this
meter can produce heavily inaccurate results.
6.
Do not use the device if it is not working properly, or if it has suffered any damage.
7. Keep the device, components and packaging elements away from children as they are potential source of danger.
Never chew or swallow a test strip, control solution, or any part of the device. If this occurs, please seek medical
assistance immediately.
8. The test strips vial includes desiccant substances which can be dangerous if inhaled or swallowed, irritant on the
skin and eyes. Do not swallow the control solution and do not put it onto the skin or in the eyes because it could be
irritating.
9. Keep this instructions with you.
10. The frequency and modality of measurement of blood glucose level and every therapy must be agreed with your
doctor.
11. Call your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms that are not consistent with your blood glucose test results.

If your are not confident about the test result, please repeat it. We recommend to verify your system as per chapter
“ACCURACY TEST”.
13. Malfunctionings or particular situations can prevent the performing of the test. This could lead to delay important
decisions about the therapy and lead to critical medical conditions. Contact immediately your doctor.

High altitudes )above 3400 meters( may affect the test results.
15.
Do not test beyond the recommended temperature range of 10° C to 40° C )50° F to 104° F(. For better accuracy we
recommend to perform test at an environmental temperature of 20-25°C )68-77 °F(.
16. Apply only capillary whole blood sample to test your blood glucose. Applying other substances, plasma or serum
will cause wrong results.
17. Dehydration and high water loss may cause wrong results. Consult your doctor immediately.
18. Test results below 50 mg/dL (2.8 mmol/L) may mean low blood glucose (hypoglycemia). Test results higher than 240
mg/dL (13.3 mmol/L) may mean high blood glucose (hyperglycemia). Consult your doctor.
19. We recommend to agree with your doctor a reaction plan in case of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.
20. Low blood pressure or shock status can produce wrong blood glucose results.
21.
Wrong results may occur for individuals experiencing a hyperglycemic-hyperosmolar state, with or without ketosis.
Critically ill patients should not be tested with blood glucose meters.

Abnormal red blood cell counts )hematocrit levels below 20% or above 60%( may cause false results. Please consult
your healthcare professional if you do not know your hematocrit level.
23. Do not use glucoEASY test strips for patients using peritoneal dialysis solution containing icodextin.
24. Do not use glucoEASY during xylose absorption testing.
25.
Do not insert any object but the specific cable )optional( inside the PC connection port.

High concentrations of reducing substances occurring in the blood naturally or from therapeutic treatments may significantly
affect glucoEASY test results. Do not test blood samples with concentrations higher than the limits listed in the following table

To avoid the meter and accessories getting dirt, dust or other contaminants, please wash and dry your hands thoroughly
before use.
