Issue Number: 1
8.2
Mode 2 - PPO 4 Word mode
PPO 4 word mode of non-cyclic data is a simple method of accessing non-cyclic data
without the need for the telegrams required with Mode 1 non-cyclic data and its
associated overheads. Mode 2 has the disadvantage of using four words of mappings
and reduces the available free mappings accordingly.
8.2.1
Mapping for PPO 4 Word non-cyclic data
To configure an SI-Interbus in slot 3 for PPO 4 Word mode non-cyclic data, the following
steps must be performed:
•
Set Pr
17.005
to the required mode
•
Set Pr
17.032
to On to reset and reconfigure the SI-Interbus
When the SI-Interbus re-initialises, it will map cyclic data IN words 0 to 3 and OUT
words 0 to 3 to the PPO 4 Word protocol parameter, Pr
61.51
. All existing mapping
parameters will be moved down by one mapping, (i.e. the previous mappings set in
Pr
17.010
and Pr
17.020
will now appear in Pr
17.011
and Pr
17.021
respectively).
Six cyclic words with PPO 4 Word non-cyclic data mapping
shows what
happens to the mapping parameters when the data format is changed from 6 cyclic
words (Pr
17.005
=6) to 6 cyclic words with Mode 2 non-cyclic data. (Pr
17.005
=206).
Table 8-6 Six cyclic words with PPO 4 Word non-cyclic data mapping
There are two problems with this setup, the first is that a configuration error will be
raised because PPO 4 Word non-cyclic uses 4 words, so with the 6 words of cyclic data
mapped, the number of mappings exceed the number specified (6). The second
problem is that the user defined mappings (Pr
17.012
and Pr
17.022
) are lost when the
SI-Interbus is re-initialised. This is because there is insufficient mappings available to
move the user defined channel into.
To maintain all mappings when adding the PPO 4 Word non-cyclic data channel, the
cyclic data format (Pr
17.005
) needs to be set to 210, this adds additional cyclic
channels to accommodate the user defined channel as shown in
words with PPO 4 Word non-cyclic data mapping
