How to Connect
3.3.1
Ethernet Connections Overview
The NOP1840 is a Linux server platform that can be connected to via an Ethernet connection.
By default the server platform has four Ethernet ports:
•
Management LAN (Eth0);
•
LAN (Eth1);
•
Traffic to the satellite (Eth2);
•
Traffic from the satellite(Eth3).
A default management IP address is set on the device (eth0).
The device can be managed using one of the following:
•
The graphical user interface (refer to chapter Graphical User Interface);
•
SSH (Secure Shell).
3.3.2
Cabling
Use a network cable for a connection between the Ethernet port (eth0) of the device to the Ethernet
port of a computer, hub or switch. The device detects whether a straight or a crossed cable is used and
acts accordingly.
Once all cables are properly connected, you can boot the device.
