Using External Devices 8-9
USB Devices
Your NEC Versa LXi is equipped with two USB ports that increase your connectivity
choices. The USB ports on the left side of your system allow you to connect up to 127
USB-equipped peripheral devices to your NEC Versa notebook computer for Windows
2000 and Windows 98 systems. These peripherals may include digital cameras,
scanners, printers, CD-ROM drives, modems, keyboards, telephones, and game
devices.
USB devices called USB hubs can serve as connection ports for other USB peripherals.
Only one device needs to be plugged into your NEC Versa. Additional peripherals can
be connected in a daisy chain configuration where one device is connected to another in
a series. Up to 127 devices can be connected together in this way.
Some external devices require additional power and may require an externally powered
USB hub.
Connecting USB devices to your system may reduce battery
life. Always connect your system to an AC power source before connecting USB
devices.
Connect an external USB device to your system as follows.
1.
Locate the center port cover on the left side of your system and open the cover
door.
2.
Locate the two USB ports.
3.
Plug in up to two USB devices to optimize your notebook possibilities.
