Why does the amount of available storage displayed for the diskette drive
vary between utilities?

Some utilities may indicate varying storage capacities. Total user-accessible
capacity may vary depending on operating environments.

Booting

How do I warm boot my computer?

Go to Start, Turn Off Computer or Shut Down, Restart the computer.

How do I cold boot my computer?

Press the system’s Power button to perform a cold boot or go to Start, Turn
Off Computer or Shut Down, Turn Off to shut down the computer. Wait at
least five seconds, and then turn the power on.

What is the difference between a warm boot and a cold boot?

A warm boot restarts the system while system power is on. A warm boot is
also a software reset. A warm boot clears volatile system memory and reloads
the operating system.

A cold boot is a system start with power off. A cold boot also resets the
hardware. It checks the hardware and reloads the operating system.

Power Management

Does my system come with power management features enabled?

Yes, your system comes with power management features enabled. Your
system manages its power resources using the Advanced Configuration and
Power Interface (ACPI). ACPI power management settings are controlled
through the Windows Power Options Properties.

See “Windows Power Management” in Chapter 4 for a description of power
management settings. Also, see the Windows documentation for detailed
information about managing power.
