The following conventions are used throughout this guide. For safety symbols, see "SAFETY
INDICATIONS" provided earlier.

This Setup Guide uses the following terms to indicate specific devices.

Disk array unit

Indicates the S1500.

Disk enclosure

Indicates either an additional Fibre Channel (FC) Disk
Enclosure (sold separately) or an additional SATA Disk
Enclosure (sold separately).

Disk drive

Indicates the hard disk drive and its dedicated tray (sold
separately).

HDD tray

Indicates the hard disk drive tray only, with no hard disk drive
installed.

Host System

Indicates an NEC Express5800 series server.

Host bus adapter (HBA)

Indicates the Fibre Channel controller for the NEC
Express5800 series

DAC

Indicates the disk array controller.

CONT

Indicates the disk array controller.

BBU

Indicates a battery backup unit.

Indicates a disk enclosure.
