Security Menu Items
Menu Item
Settings (default is bold)
Set Supervisor
Password
[Enter]
Use this field to set or change the supervisor
password. Press Enter to bring up a dialog box
where the password can be entered and confirmed.
Set User Password
[Enter]
Use this field to set or change the user password.
Press Enter to bring up a dialog box where the
password can be entered and confirmed.
Password Check
Setup, System
Allows the user to determine when a password is
needed. Selecting Setup requires a password for
entering the BIOS Setup Menu. Selecting System
requires a password every time the system is turned
on.
Assign HDD Password
Press Enter to access the Assign HDD Password
Mode.
Controls access to the system’s hard drive by
assigning master and user passwords. See “Hard
Drive Security” later in this chapter for information
and procedures for using the HDD password mode.
CAUTION: If the master and user password are set
on a hard drive, they can never be removed. If the
master password is forgotten and the hard drive is
installed in another system, data cannot be accessed
on the hard drive.
Once these passwords are set, NEC Computers
Inc. has no capability to remove them.
