Preparing the Devices
Note:
In normal operation mode, the ‘cable select’ position
is recommended for all IDE devices.
Preparing a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM Drive
Before installing a CD/DVD-ROM drive in the server, set it as “cable select” by using
the jumper on the back of the drive. Refer to the ‘IDE Device Configuration’ hereafter
for details about configuring IDE drives as master or slave. Refer to the instructions
printed on the device for further jumper setting information.

Preparing a S-ATA Hard Disk Drive
S-ATA hard disk drives do not need being prepared.
