Click OK in the message box.
ftSMC reports the state of the CPU Enclosure as Removed from Service.
7. Right-click the same CPU enclosure and click Update Firmware.
8. In the ‘Update Firmware’ on CPU Enclosure - 0 dialog box, click Browse and
navigate to the folder in which you saved the firmware file, typically in a folder under
%ProgramFiles%\Stratus\Firmware\BIOS.
9. Double-click the BIOS file for your platform (see Table 6-1 for the file names).
10. Click Finish in the ‘Update Firmware’ on CPU Enclosure - 0 dialog box. The
following message appears, indicating that the system is starting to update the
firmware:
The operation completed successfully.
Click OK in the message box.
11. In ftSMC, monitor the value of the
OpState:State
property as it transitions to the
following values:
•
Firmware Update
•
Firmware Update Complete
Two or three minutes are required to complete the firmware update.
C A U T I O N !
Never interrupt a BIOS firmware update in progress (for
example, by removing power from the CPU enclosure).
Doing so can result in a corrupted BIOS that cannot be
recovered and may require replacement of the CPU
enclosure.
N O T E
The screen goes blank for approximately one second.
During this period, certain devices (such as keyboard,
mouse, and a USB floppy drive) are temporarily
unavailable. After the devices return to service, you may
need to restart any application that was using the floppy
drive during the BIOS update.
12. Restart the CPU enclosure: Right-click the CPU enclosure whose firmware you just
updated, and click Initiate Jumpswitch.
