•
Cause
- Multi Path errors
•
Errors caused when a satellite signal reaches the receiver from two or more
paths, one directly from the satellite and the others reflected from nearby
buildings or other surfaces. Signals from satellites low on the horizon will
produce more error.
•
Result
•
Inaccurate position and heading data.
•
Unit could freeze up (from trying to make too many calculations)
•
Reason
•
Structure around or above the antennas disrupting signal transmission to the
antenna
•
Time signal is taking longer (as a result of reflected signal)
•
Antenna sees original signal,
and
reflected signal
•
True reflected signal is 180 degrees about face from original, so distance is
increased, adds to time error
•
Fix
•
Ensure correct placement of unit with clear view of the sky
•
No awnings, metal structures, windows or other structures
