With HP Mk5 a dual frequency receiver

is used in each antenna
The PPU receives the signal from the satellites
and calculates their relative position between
eachother. Using Pseudo range calculations it
works out the relative direction of one
antenna from the other.
This is then compared with carrier phase
orientation to remove ambiguity .
The whole process takes about 90 seconds!
