B. Removing the Airway Management Trainer from the Stand

1. 

Remove the existing head by first removing the lung bags. Set them aside for future use.  

(See Figure 3.)

2. 

Loosen the pinch clamp on the esophagus and remove the stomach.

3. 

Turn the existing head until the keyways on the neck and the stand’s head ring attachment align. 

(See Figure 4.)

4. 

Lift the head ring attachment on the stand and pull gently to remove the head.

1. 

See Procedure C to remove the “Airway Larry” head from stand.

2. 

Remove the chest skin, chest plate, upper compression plate, and compression springs of your 

CP

 torso or manikin. 

(See Figure 5.)

 

Note: 

Caution should be used when removing the upper compression plate to avoid damage to the 

electronics connected in some models.

5. 

Remove the upper compression plate and compression springs. 

6. 

Remove the corrugated bronchus tubes from the airway extending from the existing head and set 

aside for future use.

7. 

Loosen the pinch clamp on the esophagus and pull the stomach tube free from the esophagus 

extending from the existing head and set aside for future use.

8. 

Remove the existing head by turning it 180°, aligning the keyways, and pulling it free from the torso.

9. 

Install the “Airway Larry” Airway Management Trainer Head by using the same method used to 

remove the head, only in reverse. When inserted at the shoulders, tip the head upward slightly until 

the two keyways on the back of the neck slide under the ring and into the top of the torso.  

(See Figure 6.)

10. 

Replace the corrugated bronchus tubes. 

(See Figure 12.)

11. 

Replace the stomach tube into the esophagus and tighten the pinch clamp. 

(See Figure 12 inset.)

12. 

Replace the compression springs and upper compression plate.

13. 

Insert the corrugated bronchus tubes up through the hole in the upper compression plate and  

connect each lung bag. 

(See Figure 11.)

14. 

Replace the chest plate and chest skin, taking care not to pull the skin too tightly across the torso as 

this may inhibit chest rise during proper ventilation.
