Disposal
Disposal instructions are provided to make it clear to the user what needs to be done to ensure that
the equipment (or equipment part) end-of-life phase runs smoothly.
11.9 Dismantling
Before starting to dismantle, it should be decided whether the equipment will be used again at some
point? If this is the case, parts should be dismantled carefully and clearly identified. A proper plan
should be devised. We recommend breaking the equipment down into subassemblies and then
dismantling these. This helps to keep track.
If it is decided to dispose of the equipment entirely without being used again, then dismantling in an
organised fashion is less important. In which case, it's a good idea to consider keeping some parts of
the equipment for reuse.
11.10 Disposal
It should be considered what will become of the equipment or its parts when being disposed of. Can it
be stored for later use? Then arrange disposal and transport separately. Might you approach the
supplier to see about buying the equipment back? Contact your supplier.
In the Netherlands, legal requirements concerning the 'disposal of commercial waste' are specified in
EU Directive 2008/98/EC. Please refer to this for more information.
11.11 Reuse
When reusing, it is important to reassemble and install the equipment as originally intended. There is
then a better chance it will function as efficiently as before. It is important to bear in mind that
assembly will have to follow the procedure in section Assembly and installation.
If it is decided to have the equipment, or parts thereof, destroyed, it is important to know that there are
costs involved. All commercial waste must be disposed of properly, so this equipment, or parts of it,
are also subject to this process. Directive 2008/98/EC might also apply.
11.12 Precautions and Safety Instructions
As with the original commissioning, specific precautions and safety instructions must be followed. See
sections 5 and 1.6 in this regard.
