1. The trak
®
power product range
The trak
power product range comprises high-frequency battery
chargers (= primary-cycled chargers) for the automatic, regulated
charging of traction batteries for industrial trucks and electric vehicles.
These chargers offer all standard equipment and options which might
be desired as part of a total system. They are available for 12 to 96
volts rated voltage and 5 to 500 A output rated current, and are
designed for the following batteries: trak
basic, trak
air, trak
eco
and trak
fnc. Using trak
power, all competing products may be
charged, whether vented or sealed, after programming by the
HOPPECKE Service team.
1.1 Standard features of trak
®
power battery chargers
• 3 different, freely programmable charging characteristics
(IUIa, IuoU, IUoIa)
• disconnect characteristic through Ah-balancing and calibration point
• activation either randomly (3-10 sec) or manually programmable
• charging status safeguarded with automatic continuation in the event
of mains power supply failure
• programmable switch-on delay and weekly programme for use of
off-peak power
• automatic top-up charges freely programmable
• 200 charging cycles with real-time continuous memory for aborted
charges, cycles, Ah, Bh, etc.
• equalising charges programmable automatically or manually;
I charger
• recognition of already charged batteries
• program for desulphation, automatic and manual
• gentle start of charging for low mains loading
• PC interface (modern USB cable connection without separate
interface)
• Ah addition when used purely for intermediate charging (during the
week)
• automatic charging factor changeover when trak
®
air / trak
®
eco
used
• all trak
power accessories may be retrofitted
• all intelligent safety circuits for battery defects
• may be set for any application of the HOPPECKE customer (setting
only by HOPPECKE Customer Services)
• no neutral conductor needed on the mains side.
1.2 Accessories, ready-provided or for ordering as
retrofit kits
•
trak
air
battery system: may be retrofitted to all trak
power
chargers (for freely programmable time-shifted running of the pump,
detection of low and high pressure and of leaks, fault-finding through
pressure display with service software).
• LC display showing anticipated charging time and state of charge:
visual presentation of individual cells, charging program, current vol-
tage, actual current, battery temperature (when accessory installed).
•
Hardware options:
automatic water refilling system, remote con-
trol and display, resistance to tropical conditions (high temperature
and atmospheric humidity), dust filter, steel underframe, transponder
for trak
fifo.
•
BIM
(Battery Identification Module) for charge specification:
battery recognition with characteristic, battery temperature and
interactive charging. Allows charging at different voltages, capaci-
ties and battery systems, also energy rental based on Ah charged.
•
Pilot contact wiring
for interruption of charging at the charging
plug: disconnection without actuating the STOP button and reliable
explosion protection.
•
BIM
,
AquaCheck
and
separate temperature sensors
may
be used to implement interactive charging.
• interlinking of chargers with Bluetooth, where necessary with battery
controller or battery identification module. Battery management and
central data and fault scanning via GSM or the telephone network.
• external state of charge display (power LEDs in yellow, green, red).
• charging cable extension (dimensions as required by customer) with
battery voltage adjustment.
• wall mounting for fixing the charger to a brick/stone wall.

3. The safety instructions
• the charger should
never
be used in the rain or stored in a damp
room. The charger must
only
be used in enclosed areas.
•
risk of explosion!
sparking or flame in the immediate vicinity of the battery are to be
avoided. Pulling out the plug without interrupting charging via the
stop button can produce break sparks which may cause an
explosion.
Always wear personal safety equipment.
• charge batteries only in well ventilated areas. We shall be pleased
to provide you with suitable calculations. Please contact our
Technical Customer Services staff.
• some charger components, e.g. switches and relays, may produce
sparks. The charger should therefore be set up so that these sparks
do not create a hazard. Minimum distance from the battery: 1 metre
(0.5 metre according to EN 50272-3).
•
never
use the charger when it is open. Contact with live parts may
be fatal.
•
under no circumstances
should non-chargeable batteries
(primary cells) be charged using this charger.
