Selecting Clear Transmissions

Procedure:

Press the preprogrammed

Secure/Clear

button to the secure

position.

Note:

If the selected channel is preprogrammed for clear-only
operation – when you press the

PTT

button, you hear

an invalid mode tone and the display shows

Clear TX

only

The radio will not transmit until you set the

Secure/

Clear

button to the clear position.

The radio can be configured to ignore the clear voice or
insecured transmission when the radio is in secured
transmission. Check with your agent for details.

Managing Encryption

Loading an Encryption Key

Note:

Refer to the key-variable loader (KVL) manual for
equipment connections and setup.

Procedure:

Attach the KVL to your radio.

The display shows

Keyloading

, and all other radio

functions, except for power down, backlight, and volume,
are locked out.

Select the required keys and press the

Menu Select

button

directly below

LOAD

on the KVL. This loads the encryption

keys into your radio.

When the key has been loaded successfully, you hear a
short tone for single-key radios.

When the key has been loaded successfully, you hear an
alternating tone for multikey radios.


