3 General Information: Introduction
3.1 Scope of Delivery

3.3 Device Description in this Manual
This instruction manual is for the time server DTS 4160.grandmaster .
3.4 Introduction
The DTS 4160.timecenter is a primary reference clock (PRC), Grandmaster and
Timeserver for high accurate synchronization of various equipment’s and for the use in
large network environments. It can be synchronized over GNSS, PTP, High Precision
DCF and E1. Equipped with a Rubidium Oscillator it has very high holdover accuracy,
ITU-T G.811 can be achieved.
It is a PTP grandmaster according to IEEE 1588-2008 for the synchronization of PTP
clients.
It is equipped with up to 4 network ports (IPv4/IPv6) for time distribution,
synchronization or configuration.
It can be used as a master clock for NTP slave clocks, synchronizes via NTP unicast or
multicast and with time zone information.
In addition, the DTS 4160 provides one line for E1 / 2.048MHz, IRIG/AFNOR (available
as analogue and digital output), two configurable frequency outputs as well as two
serial interfaces for the output of time telegrams.
To maintain a redundant time source, two DTS 4160 can be connected over an optical
link.
The DTS 4160 can synchronize master clocks or other equipment with DCF.
The DTS 4160 can send both e-mails and SNMP traps for alerting purposes.
Using MOBA-NMS and SNMP, the DTS 4160 can be fully operated and its
configuration and system status can be requested.
