Record button
You can use the record button to take photos or videos, depending
on the position of the photo/video switch on the underside of the
device To do this, a micro SD card (maximum storage capacity of
32 GB) must be inserted into the card slot as the NVD 650 has no
internal memory
In photo mode, the NVD 650 captures one frame in JPEG format
each time the record button is pressed
In video mode, pressing the record button starts the video recording
(AVI format, 1280x720 pixels (HD) at 20 fps) The recording symbol
will flash on the screen Pressing the record button again stops the
video recording
5. Operating the night vision device:
Switch on your NVD 650
Rotate the eyepiece (eye-side lens) until the image is sharp for your
eye
Then turn the lens until your observation object in the distance is
sharp in the frame
Depending on the lighting conditions, select the brightness of the
IR illumination as described above
6. Connecting your device to a computer
The MINOX NVD 650 stores photos and videos on the memory card
Photos can be distinguished by filenames with the extension “jpg”,
while videos have the extension “avi”
There are two ways to transfer the data to your computer: either
remove the micro SD card and read it on the computer, or connect
the NVD 650 to a computer using the USB cable supplied
Transferring images and videos via micro SD card
Always make sure that the night vision device is switched off
before removing the micro SD card from the card slot, otherwise the
memory could be damaged Remove the memory card from the card
slot of the device and insert it into a memory card reader connected
to your computer The transfer of images or video recordings to the
computer will then commence
Connection via USB cable
Connect the night vision device to a computer via the USB port
using the USB cable supplied The night vision device will be
recognised as a removable medium Pictures or video recordings
can be viewed directly or transferred to the PC
Connecting to a TV
To connect to a TV, turn on the MINOX NVD 650, and then connect
the video cable to the night vision device Connect the other end of
the cable to the TV Then select the corresponding video input source
on the TV set for the video input you are using
The video output is set by default to the European PAL format If
you are using the device in the US or Japan, you will need to switch
to NTSC: Connect the NVD 650 to the TV and press and hold the IR
button and the brightness buttons for 5 seconds The screen on the
NVD 650 will now change to NTSC The same procedure should be
followed to switch back from NTSC to PAL
A live picture from the NVD 650 can now be viewed on the TV
screen
