Application Notes

Reversing

A dynamic brake may be used when reversing the motor direction (Figure 15). Use a three

pole, three positions switch rated for at least the maximum DC armature voltage and maxi

-

mum braking current. Wait for the motor to stop completely before switching it to either the

forward or reverse direction. See the Dynamic braking section for sizing the dynamic brake

resistor.
