Section 4 - Maintenance & Care
To maintain the DataDock unit and its hard drive modules in proper working order, please adhere to the
following procedures:
•
Backup data.
If there aren’t any copies of the data stored on a hard disk module and its data becomes corrupt, it may not
be possible to restore the data to its original state.
•
Protect your DataDock unit and its modules from bumps and drops at all times.
•
Do not try to open your DataDock unit or its modules.
Doing so can damage the system and will void your warranty.
•
Do not expose your DataDock unit or its modules to strong electromagnetic sources, direct
sunlight, extreme temperatures or high humidity.
These sources can erase or corrupt data.
•
When cleaning your DataDock unit, only use a soft cloth slightly moistened with water.
•
Do not apply lubricants or blow air into the DataDock unit.
•
Never connect or disconnect a SCSI cable or terminator while the computer and its other
peripherals are turned on.
This may damage the DataDock and/or the computer.
•
Keep the area around the DataDock’s cooling vents free from obstructions, such as books
or paper.
These objects may obstruct proper airflow.
•
Use surge protectors or power conditioners when using the computer system in an environment
where heavy appliances are used.
•
Never move or jar the DataDock enclosure while it is powered on.
•
Do not change the SCSI ID numbers of the DataDock unit while the DataDock and the computer
are turned on.
